THE GEN4 ERA ARRIVES IN MEXICO

Formula E returns to Mexico bringing an all-new era of electric racing, with the 2027 Bridgestone Mexico City E-Prix marking the arrival of the GEN4 car in Mexico. With 600kW of power available plus active all-wheel drive in every phase of the race, this is the most challenging Formula E car to master, designed for wheel-to-wheel battles and jaw-dropping moments for fans.

The GEN4 is the fastest-accelerating single-seater race car - capable of hitting speeds of 335kph in just 4.4 seconds. Against its predecessor, it averages 10 seconds faster per qualifying lap, and uses up to 150% more downforce. The new cars will put greater demands on drivers and teams while delivering a new level of performance for fans at the track.

Every feature on the GEN4, from active all-wheel drive and active differential to dual aerodynamic configurations and regenerative braking, demonstrates groundbreaking technologies electric cars offer, making this machine more road-relevant for manufacturers and their future vehicle innovation than ever before, and the competitive racing in the world.

Mexico City will host just the second race weekend of the GEN4 era, giving fans an early opportunity to see Formula E’s groundbreaking latest generation of electric race cars compete.

Alongside battle brand-new GEN4 technology, the 2027 Bridgestone Mexico City E-Prix will feature an extended circuit layout, creating a new challenge for Formula E drivers and teams and adding another dimension to the racing action. The updated layout will require competitors to adapt their approach while giving fans a renewed experience at one of the Championship’s most established events.

The 2027 Bridgestone Mexico City E-Prix stands as one of the most iconic races on the Formula E calendar, considered a hallmark in the Championship Season, and is home to one of the most passionate motorsport fan bases in the World.

On October 6, the Official Press Conference of the 2027 Bridgestone Mexico City E-Prix was held, with Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo joined by CUPRA Kiro Spanish driver, Pepe Martí & other key media & CDMX representatives to discuss exciting developments before the GEN4 era arrives in the city in January.

Martí adressed what makes this season's E-prix so interesting: “This year, for me, we have one of the most exciting parts of the circuit, with the layout running right through the middle of the Foro Sol. The cars pass almost directly underneath the fans, and as a driver, that is something very special. Formula E allows you to hear the crowd from inside the car, which is something very few racing categories can offer. I will always remember the first time I raced here and heard the entire crowd supporting us from the Foro Sol. Hopefully, my first win can come here in Mexico City, and as a Spanish-speaking driver,  I hope we can have a great race and be competitive.”

The press conference will be followed by a Media Day, kicking off the promotional campaign leading into 2027 Bridgestone Mexico City E-Prix on January 16, 2027.
