It’s a new era for the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, as the British-based squad welcomes a new Title Partner and a completely new driver line-up for the 2026/27 season - the first of the GEN4 era.
As such, the team have called on the services of former DS PENSKE driver, and Formula E race winner, Maximilian Günther, who has signed a multi-year contract to bring his wealth of experience to the Paysafe Envision squad.
During his eight seasons in the championship, Günther has been no stranger to the top step of the podium, winning seven E-Prix’s, the first of which made him Formula E’s youngest-ever race winner - a record only recently beaten by Taylor Barnard.
However, the 2025/26 season was a challenging one for the young German driver, who finished 18th in the Drivers’ standings with 23 points and a best finish of sixth. He will no doubt, therefore be looking forward to a fresh start with the Paysafe Envision squad, behind-the-wheel of the GEN4 - Formula E’s fastest car to date.
Capable of reaching speeds in excess of 335kph, 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds, and 0-200kph in just 4.4 seconds - 1.5 seconds faster than its predecessor - GEN4 will deliver 50% more power in race mode than the current GEN3 Evo race car. The GEN4 car will be an average of 10 seconds faster per lap than the GEN3 car in qualifying mode. In ATTACK MODE, GEN4 produces up to 600kW of power, a 71% increase in base output over GEN3 Evo, delivering performance that pushes the limits of electric racing. GEN4 is the only single-seater race car with permanent all-wheel drive.
Maximillian Günther, Paysafe Envision Formula E Team driver, said: “I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together.
“The team has a very successful history in Formula E and exceptional quality throughout the organisation. Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top. I truly believe we have all the ingredients to build something really special together.
“What convinced me about the project was the great environment, the high ambition of the team, the mindset and, of course, the excellent technical package together with Jaguar.
I’m proud to become part of the team and have a fantastic feeling about our future.”
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director & CTO of Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, said: “We are thrilled to announce Max as our newest driver at Paysafe Envision Formula E Team. Season 13 is going to be an important year for all teams; learning the GEN4 car as well as a new sporting format, which is going to put an even bigger focus on outright pace and speed.
“Max has proven how capable he is at delivering qualifying laps when it matters, as well as podium finishes and race wins. We’re incredibly excited to start working with him and hit the ground running at pre-season testing in November.”
